Alert, morning sharpened
by pre-breakfast sun you turn

under orange descents
  foretelling in rowans. Pathed

  ginger, bright past
  crocosmia flames, thrown

  at this garden’s end.
  Monitoring summer’s last breath, you

  skinny in – amber, aware.
