Hello Boy by Rosalind Flogdell

For Jim

As I Slowly Circle You Twice
Then out With A Smile, Dummy Out I Say
HELLO BOY
Tears From You Fall As You Cry Out To Mum
“Rosalind’s Forgotten Me”

Time Helped Me Remember You And Now Look At Us
Out In The Garden Digging With Spoons
We Smile For The Camera MY JIMMY And I

AND THEN I SEE HOW YOU WERE Ever Deep In A Book
JIMMY, Childhood Games And Pursuits Cancelled
WITH A New Road THAT Had Beckoned, A New Road Walked
Childhood Was Given The Occasional Nod
To The Accompaniment Of Much Moaning and Groaning

SO Time Passed and SO We Had JIM Who With A Poetic Turn Of Mind
Turned The Handle Of Academia’s Door
Stepping Inside He Blossomed, He Flourished
Found Shelter, Escape.
His Long Wait Over Saw Him Meet With His Poet Within.

We Shared The Same Hope To Meet Again On This Earth
Till Then You Remain
HELLO BOY, MY JIMMY, JIMMY, JIM.
